The year 2024 is going to be a good one, if we’re looking just at the movies Neon is scheduled to distribute in the US. We’re expecting a lot more indie films and a much lighter tone with more comedy and fewer (but still some) of the thrillers Neon has become known for.

Self Reliance

In the comedic thriller “Self Reliance”, Tommy’s life turns into a high-stakes reality show with a twisted premise: he can win one million dollars, but hunters can only attack him when he’s alone. Handling the Undead

From an article announcing Neon picking up the rights to this movie: Handling the Undead picks up on an abnormally hot summer day in Oslo, as a strange electric field surrounds the city, with a collective migraine spreading across town. TVs, lightbulbs and electronics go haywire, the chaos reaching a debilitating crescendo when suddenly, it’s over.

Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway star in this psychological thriller set in the early ’60s. Their perfect lives are suddenly shattered after a tragic accident.

Presence

In Presence, a family moves into a suburban house and becomes convinced they are not alone. A supernatural force has infiltrated the house, and taken a specific interest in the couple’s daughter. The picture is shot entirely in a single location, which creates the haunting mood sought by the filmmakers.

Beacon, a character created for the Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing line of computer software, was the most influential Black woman in technology right up until the day she vanished. The film will investigate her disappearance and reimagine the legacy of a missing Black woman who helped define the digital age.
