“Asteroid City” (2023)
The Story
Asteroid City is a comedy-drama film directed by Wes Anderson with a star-studded cast.
The film is set in a fictional American desert town in 1955. The story follows a group of super-smart students and their parents who are attending a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention. The story primarily takes place at a motel, but it is interspersed with scenes in a playhouse. These “meta” scenes are introduced by a narrator who gives clues as to the background of the story.
Asteroid City is a typical Wes Anderson film in many ways. It is visually stunning, with a unique and quirky style.
