Initial Thoughts
When was the last time you laughed through an entire movie, start to finish. No gushy sad scene written to jerk tears out of your eyes in favor of the main character, no scenes of domestic abuse that pull the strings of your heart to understand a character more deeply. And when was the last time you laughed during a bloody fight scene and not felt like a sadistic psychopath?
It would be easy to say Bottoms is a blend of But I’m a Cheerleader and Clueless, with a little 10 Things I Hate About You and She’s All That, and a dash of American Pie and Jawbreakers. No, Bottoms is more than an amalgamation of cheesy 90s film nostolgia. It’s so, so much more. Bottoms a raunchy retake on the lesbian film, where we jump past coming out to just ‘coming.’
Did anyone else see the name of the diner in the movie, But I’m a Diner? lmao. Or as we said in the 90’s: Hahahahahaha.
This movie is very close to the top of our Top Ten 2023 movie list. It’s also the one and only release from the new Orion Pictures for 2023, as far as we know at the moment.
