Blog: Notes from a Filmie

Too Many Streaming Services, Not Enough Time

Every month I go through my list of subscriptions and think about which to cancel or join. Right now I’m subbed to Hulu, max/HBO, and Peacock.

Peacock has been fun this past month. I signed up so my MIL could watch the new Monk movie and then discovered great shows like Found (Shanola Hampton of Shameless and Mark-Paul Gosselaar of Saved by the Bell) and Poker Face (super sexy and smart Natasha Lyonne). But there isn’t much else I want to watch on Peacock.

What to move on to? I’ve been toying around with going back to the theater. There’s nothing like watching movies on the big screen, and seeing the newest films when they come out. The nearest Regal is almost an hour away, and going to the movies turns into a day long affair since it’s only economical to watch a string of three or even five movies at a time. I don’t have time for that these days.

So, I’m looking at AppleTV, Netflix, and The Criterion Collection. Should I do one, or all three? I don’t know.
