The Story
Satyaprem lives his best life in his dreams, where he is the best catch of the city and his dream girl Katha dances every dance with him. But when he wakes up, he is just a regular guy living at home with his parents and younger sister. His mother is nitpicky and loud, and his father is sweet and Satyaprem’s best friend. His sister has her life on track — she has a job and wedding plans.
Sattu, as his family calls him, is in love with Katha. A year earlier, he saw Katha perform and it was love at first sight. He saved her on stage by getting the crowd to get her to perform “once more,” but when he confronted her after the show, she tells him she already has a boyfriend.
When he hears that she will be performing again at a town event, he and his family run to the show, only to hear that she is sick and unable to attend. On a whim, Sattu goes to her house and saves her from a tragic situation.
The gorgeous Katha is out of Sattu’s league, so imagine his surprise when Katha’s family comes to propose a marriage between Sattu and Katha. The gorgeous Katha has no interest in Sattu, but marries him after being pressured by her father. Sattu must try his hardest to win Katha’s love, which is complicated by a past trauma that has caused deep scars in her soul.
The movie uses a rom-com setting to tackle tough social issues in India, namely date rape.
